The BESIX Dubai Design Department, managed by Mike Paschalis, Deputy Director Engineering, participated at the “Nemetschek Engineering User Contest 2009” and got the Special Prize of the jury with the project “The Tornado” in Doha, Qatar.
The BESIX Group ends 2008 with very positive results. Given the present economic context, the Group, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, has decided to review its structure and to develop its competences in other sectors related to construction.
On April 8th, 2009 BESIX Nederland, in joint venture, was awarded, the contract for the realization of the civil works for the “GATE” LNG terminal in the Port of Rotterdam.

The BESIX Group has recorded another success in its new businesses, by signing, in joint venture, a BOOT contract (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer), with the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, related to the financing, concept, construction and operation of two new waste water treatment plants for the city of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
