The SPIE Batignolles / BESIX / NGE consortium has been selected by the Société du Canal Seine-Nord Europe (SCSNE) to deliver the Oisy-le-Verger lock, located in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. As the first major lock awarded on the Canal Seine-Nord Europe, the project represents a key milestone in the development of the Seine-Scheldt inland waterway network. Measuring 195 metres long and 12.5 metres wide, with a drop height of 25 metres, the lock will be one of the most significant structures along the canal route.
As a member of the consortium, BESIX contributes its recognised expertise in large-scale hydraulic infrastructure. The contract encompasses civil engineering works, special foundations, earthworks and lock equipment for a structure requiring approximately 170,000 m³ of concrete. The lock will incorporate a pumping station, four water-saving basins and a buffer basin, enabling water recovery and reuse during operations. From the detailed design phase onwards, BESIX integrates operational and sustainability requirements to support the delivery of this technically complex infrastructure.
