Located on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast, the Port of NEOM is a critical component of the NEOM mega-project. The first phase of its transformation involved the demolition of existing structures and the construction of over 3 kilometres of new quay walls. The project was designed to support the future logistics and industrial needs of Oxagon City, aligning with NEOM’s vision of sustainable, high-tech urban development.
Design and construction of more than 3 km of quay walls of various types
Demolition and removal of existing port structures
Integration of sustainable and innovative marine engineering solutions
Execution under a design-and-build lump sum contract model
Strategic partnership: BESIX and MBL formed a joint venture, with Boskalis contributing marine expertise, to deliver the project.
European milestone: This was the first design-and-build contract awarded by NEOM to a European-led consortium.
Infrastructure for innovation: The upgraded port infrastructure supports Oxagon City’s role as a global hub for advanced manufacturing and logistics.
Sustainable development: The project aligned with NEOM’s sustainability goals, incorporating environmentally responsible construction practices.
