The contract award followed a period of Early Contractor Involvement during which Portonave, BESIX and ECB worked collaboratively to determine the best technical solutions, develop the design and methods to optimise project cost, and estimate prices by working in an open book.
The optimisation of the port structure is specifically designed to allow larger vessels to dock in the port, which will in turn boost the port’s activities. Works include the construction of a new quay wall, while keeping the port operational. Preparatory works started in the second semester of 2023. Completion is expected for the second semester of 2025.
