Tornado Tower

Eye catcher in Doha West Bay
Following the Khalifa stadium and the emblematic Aspire Tower, the Six Construct-Midmac joint venture was commissioned by Qipco (Qatar Investments & Projects Development Holding Co) to build the ‘Qipco Office Tower’, also the ‘Tornado Tower’ in Doha, Qatar. With its special geometry and external lighting the 52-storey Qipco Office Tower is one of the eye catchers in Doha’s West Bay high rise forest. This boldly designed building offers 80,000 m² of offices, restaurants, boutiques and recreational areas.

On-site façade workshop

As for the Aspire Tower, a façade workshop was erected for the Qipco Office Tower, fully equipped with the latest machinery. Having this workshop enabled the teams to adjust fabrication as per site requirements and to mitigate the time impact of possible changes. Both for the fabrication as well as for the erection the JV has a specialized Polish team, a total of 75 skilled workmen. M/s Jungbluth Alu Partners, supported by the different JV departments, is responsible for the supervision, safety and quality.

The pro-active approach of the on-site workshop has allowed us to participate directly in the structural design, to liaise with other disciplines, to incorporate directly the comments from the Client, to react immediately to possible changes and to minimize the cost of these changes. In addition, and as an advantage for the Client, the whole process from the early design stage until the handing over was fully transparent.
