Project Doha, Qatar

Qatar National Convention Center

Futuristic showcase for exhibitions in sight

Sector: Buildings

Since 2011, Doha has boasted a new venue of choice for regional and international conferences, exhibitions, galas, concerts, weddings and banquets: a five-storey multifunctional building bristling with technological and environmental innovation.

Large gathering spaces

A stone's throw from the universities of Doha and 20 minutes from the business district, the Convention Centre offers a series of huge gathering spaces on five levels. Exhibition halls (40,000 m²), 4,000-seat conference hall, 2,300-seat theatre, and three auditoria, plus banqueting areas for 10,000 people, and 57 meeting rooms, not to mention the spacious foyers, lounges and reception areas, and rooms for media and VIP guests.

Consortium

Six Construct and Midmac partnered on this project to take care of the structural work, façades, finishings, air conditioning, and surrounds, as well as building a connecting bridge.

Resolutely green

The Convention Centre boasts sophisticated technical facilities, in particular state-of-the-art environmental technology. Fitted with solar panels, the centre is the first building of its kind to obtain the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification of the US Green Building Council.
