What is the PV obligation in Flanders?

From April 1, 2026, installing solar panels will be mandatory in Flanders for companies consuming over 1 GWh of electricity per year. Public buildings using more than 250 MWh annually are also affected. To avoid potential fines, it’s important to prepare now and ensure your site is compliant.

Who is affected?

Companies & SMEs using over 1 GWh/year.
Public buildings using at least 250 MWh/year.
Shared buildings: all parties are jointly responsible.
Multiple buildings on one EAN meter: total consumption counts.
Responsible: owners, tenants, or legal right holders.
