Our method

While every project is different, our project framework and rigorous project management ethos, provides a safe and tested method to deliver a wide variety of infrastructure projects.


Using in-depth field surveys and extensive desktop research, we prepare different scenarios that consider all aspects of the project: financial, economical, technical, regulatory and service delivery. Right from the start, we devise a partnership that shares both risk and benefits.

We work closely with our partners to establish project economics, legal structure and where required propose changes to regulation to ensure the solution is viable over the complete lifecycle.

Expand, Upgrade & Rehabilitate

A key benefit of long-term partnerships is that improvements can be applied where new regulations, an increase in demand or improved technology occur. Improvements are proactively considered with efficiency and revenue in mind, ensuring that the asset is always performing for the benefit of the partnership, the community and the environment.




Where possible, we will propose the adoption of reuse strategies which can generate additional revenue.

This can include the reuse of by products which have proven in the past to be beneficial from an environmental and revenue generating perspective.

A selection of our projects


South 44 Bridge DBM (Belgium)
Construction and maintenance of a new part of the ring road and the construction and/or optimisation of bridges, access and exit roads.

Coentunnel (The Netherlands)
Design, construction, finance and maintenance of immersed tunnels crossing the Northsea Channel at North-West ring road around Amsterdam as well as the installation of traffic management and tunnel safety systems and the construction of sound barriers. This is the first full-scale DBFM project in the Netherlands.

Limmel Lock (The Netherlands)
Design, Construction, Finance and Maintenance of a 50-m-wide flood barrier and fixed bridge on the Juliana canal near Maastricht. The Limmel floodgate is the first ever to be built and exploited by a Public Private Partnership (PPP). 

Beatrix Lock (The Netherlands)
Design, Construction, Finance and Maintenance of a new third lock and the two existing locks during 27 years.

Courtyard by Marriott (Belgium)

A 4-star hotel with all the necessary facilities to organise meetings in Evere, Brussels.
BESIX was responsible for the design, financing, construction and maintenance of the business hotel. We partnered up with the Marriott Hotel Group for the property management.

Gotthard Hotel & Residences (Switzerland)

Design and construction of an extensive luxury resort in the heart of the Saint-Gotthard Massif that will include six hotels, some 500 apartments, 25 chalets, a convention center, a large indoor swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course.

Almere A6 Motorway (The Netherlands)

Construction & maintenance of the road widening to 4 lanes of the A6 Almere Haven - Buiten-Oost

A16 – De Groene Boog (The Netherlands)

BESIX and its partners are designing, building, financing and will maintain for 20 years this major Rotterdam axis, which includes a 100% CO2 neutral tunnel.

Annie Cordy Tunnel, formerly known as Leopold II Tunnel (Belgium)

BESIX is participating in the renovation of the Annie Cordy Tunnel, Belgium's longest tunnel in the heart of Brussels. In addition to the design and construction, BESIX will manage the maintenance for 25 years.

POST X LPA (Belgium)

BESIX is responsible for the financing, design, construction and 25-year maintenance of the new Antwerp Police building in Belgium.

Sludge processing installation (Ghent, Belgium)

BESIX is participating in the design, construction, financing and maintenance until 2046 of the Aquafin sewage sludge processing installation in Ghent, Belgium.

Middle East

ASPCL Ajman Sewerage


Construction, maintenance and operation of the Emirates first sewerage treatment facility through a PPP with the Ajman Government.

ISTP2 Abu Dhabi

Construction and maintenance of two wastewater treatment facilities through a 25-year DBFM agreement.

Safi Ajman


Construction and maintenance of a water recycling plant providing polished water for a variety of industrial and commercial uses.

Dubai Sports City


Providing Sewerage services to the Sports City community including the reuse of treated effluents for irrigation, golf courses and lakes.

Emirates RDF (Refuse-Derived Fuel plant)

BESIX designed, built and financed this project which converts waste into fuel to partially replace gas and coal in local cement plants. BESIX is responsible for the operations and maintenance for 15 years.

Dubai Waste-to-Energy

The Dubai Waste-to-Energy plant is one of the largest plants of its kind in the world: it will process 1.9 million tonnes of waste per year to generate 200 MW of sustainable electricity. BESIX is participating in the design, construction and financing of this 1.2 billion USD project and will manage the operations and maintenance for 35 years.

Zayed City Schools (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

BESIX is participating in the financing, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and 20-year operations and maintenance of three state-of-the-art school campuses with a total capacity of 5,360 students in Zayed City, Abu Dhabi.
